And who would patch an old garment with unshrunk cloth?
For the new patch shrinks and pulls away from the old cloth,
leaving an even bigger hole than before.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins.
The wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins.
New wine needs new wineskins."
(Mark 2:21-22 NLT)
LORD, as I grow in You, help me remember that some things from my past
may have to go to make way for the new. Old relationships with people that
would pull me away from You have to go. Old places I used to go have to be left behind.
Ways I have acted in the past have to change to accommodate new ways of living in You.
Give me courage to pull away from the old and burst out of the past, regardless of cost,
convenience, who, what, when, or where.
Thank You for making me new in You and for the ways You help me grow.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
